Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use Drupal?

Drupal migration is an opportunity, not a mandate.

After extensive study, an advisory group concluded that most areas of the University would benefit considerably from the adoption of Drupal. For a variety of reasons, many units struggle to maintain existing websites adequately and are unable to expand their web presence effectively. The CMS Team will focus first on migrating units that will benefit most from Drupal and are most eager to adopt it. The CMS Team will support and promote Drupal exclusively; prioritization will allow us to provide maximum support to help units achieve their web objectives.

Certain units, however, may elect to continue to develop and support websites themselves using content management systems other than Drupal. Units with more substantial informational technology staffs, more complicated and extensive websites, and specialized needs may or may not find Drupal migration useful. Prerequisites to migration for these areas would be the clear success of CMS Team in its efforts with other units and a consensus that a shift to Drupal would better meet an area's needs than would continuation of other systems.
